Virginia M. Bauch Staatz, "Ginny" 89, formerly of Augusta and Eau Claire, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center.
The former Virginia Mildred Erdman, daughter of T.W. and Lola (Klatt) Erdman, was born January 21, 1921 in Lincoln Township, rural Augusta. She was united in marriage to Clayton Bauch on June 9, 1941, at her parents home in Rodell. She and her husband farmed in the area and also owned an operated the Rodell Bar, rural Augusta. She was the third generation of Erdman's to own the bar. After her husband passed away she married Vernon Staatz in Sept. of 1971, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. The couple lived in Eau Claire, Vern preceded her in death in Dec. of 1985. Virginia was a very caring mother and grandmother. She wanted her family to know her life story, so in the late 1980's she started writing it into a book. She loved giving handcrafted gifts to family and friends, which included almost anything that could be embroidered, especially quilts. She also embroidered beautiful crewel pieces that she gave away. She collected Precious Moments figurines, grew beautiful house plants and loved dancing, and was extremely fond of polkas. She very lovingly took care of all of her grand and great grandchildren whenever she could. She often commented on what a wonderful life she had, two great husbands, five loving children with their families, and her extended family. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay and Les Honadel of Augusta, Alyce and John Brown of Drasco, Ark.; three sons, Dean Bauch, David and Pat Bauch, Dennis Bauch all of Augusta; brother, Alvin and Gerry Erdman of Hayward; sister, Inez and Bill Arries of Augusta; eight grandchildren, Debbie (Mark) Brown, Stacey Orr, Darcy (Tom Gartzke, Anitra (Scott) Huff, Andrea (Troy) Volbrecht, Jenni (Chris) Stracener, Chad (Stephanie) Bauch, Jason (Sara) Bauch; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fall Creek, with Pastor Ricky Bertels officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
