HENRY DEPPE
(OBITUARY)

Henry Deppe was born in Germany the 4th day of February 1849 and at the age of 4 years he came to this country with his parents, landing at New Orleans. Here his parents died soon after. An orphan so early in life he made his home with his uncle, Mr. Karl Knickman at Bellville, Illinois. Later they moved to Bay, Missouri. Here he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Hoffman also of that place. Nine children were born to this union, three of these died in infancy.

Until 1893 they made their home at Bay, Missouri, then they moved to Glenvil, Nebraska, living on a farm four miles north of that place, here they lived until 1911 they moved to their present home in town.

Mr. Deppe took part in the Vivil war, only 16 years old, serving as a substitute.
