Fred Rosenstiel, a former living about four miles east of Lena, died at his home, of paralysis, Friday night, July 22, just before midnight. He was born in Germany in 1835, and came to this country with his parents when six years of age, landing at Baltimore. They came directly to this county and settled down to farming. His father, Jacob, was over-seer of a hunting ground in Germany. He died when he had been in this country 21 years. Mr. Rosenstiel’s mother died six months later. Fred had followed farming since he came to this country and had been very successful. He was the youngest of the family. He was taken sick about 5 o’clock Friday morning and scarcely spoke a word during the day. The funeral occurred on Sunday at 11 o’clock. There was a large crowd of people in attendance. The text of the discourse was “Set thinr house in order.”

Early Last Friday morning Frederic Rosenstil was stricken down with a fit of apoplexy, and passed away to his eternal home in the evening. He was buried Sabbath in the Grigsby cemetery; he was 52 years. Rev. Unangst officiated at the funeral, which was the largest ever held in this section. He leaves a wife and a large family to mourn his loss. Mr. Rosenstiel was one of the early settlers of this county, and was well known throughout. He was endowed with great energy, and was quite extensively engaged in farming and stock-raising. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. The widow was taken very sick quite suddenly on Sabbath during the funeral.
