Valentine Schaub, a farmer, came to Canada in 1832 from Ingenheim, Alsace, with the first group of settlers to come to this area. Besides his wife Margaret, he brought four children, including a son Michael, who married Anna Rohfrietsch in 1839, and a daughter Margaret, who married Jacob Brunner and lived on Lot 23.
The Schaubs also owned the lot across the road, in Downie Township.
Valentine died in 1858, Margaret in 1860.
In 1836, contracted to purchase Lot 22, Concession 1, Ellice Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. Valentin sold to his son, Michael in 1853. Michael earned the deed that same year and then sold the property in 1880 to Peter Rohfrietsch.
A marriage record found on a Bas-Rhin website shows that Valentine and Margaret also had a son named Valentine who married Catherine Vix on March 27, 1827 in Ingenheim, Alsace, France.
