David G. C. Guetschow, 51, of Sparta, Wisconsin died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, Sparta, WI. He was born on April 1, 1958 in Beloit, Wisconsin to Ronald and Catherine (Paquin) Guetschow. On July 13, 1991 in Glenview, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Margaret Durkee.
David grew up in Beloit and graduated from Beloit High School in 1976. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1976. He was stationed in San Diego, CA, Chicago, IL, Charlotte, NC, and at Fort McCoy. He retired in 2001. After he retired from the service he attended Western Technical College and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and Business Management. He was employed by First Student and MWR. He was a member of the American Legion Post 100. David enjoyed photography, camping, and computers.
David is survived by his wife, Margaret of Sparta, WI; children, Christina (Michael) Millard of Tigerton, WI; Dana Guetschow of Plattville, WI, Joseph Hauschultz of Sparta, WI; a granddaughter, Desiree Millard of Tigerton, WI; his mother, Catherine MacNees of Iron Mountain, MI; four sisters, Julie Cable of Oklahoma, Ronda Bach of Illinois, Carol (Gene) Whippler of Michigan, Sue (Dave) Draves of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Guetschow, and his step-father, Gordon MacNees.
Funeral services were Tuesday March 23, 2010, 11 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Sparta with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 2112 and American Legion Post 100 were in St. John's Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta, WI. Friends were invited to call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Monday, March 22, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, in Sparta assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
