Businessman Claude Abbott, 63, Dies; Rites Friday
Claude H. Abbott, 63, assistant vice president of Graham Inc., died Wednesday at Mercy Health Center after a long illness. Services for Abbott, 2328 Oxford Way, will be at 2:30 pm. Friday at Sherman-Demuth Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. A native of Bakersfield, Mo. he graduated from high school in Shamrock and attended the University of Maryland. An Air Force veteran of World War II, he saw service in Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines and West Germany before his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, two brothers, Arville, Shawnee, and William T., Wichita; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Hartenberger, Seattle, and Mrs. Betty Young. Wichita, and his partents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Abbott, Wichita. Memorials may be made to the College of the Ozarks, Branson, Mo.
