Obituary, The State (Columbia, SC) June 10, 2003: Rachel Somogyi, Columbia - Graveside services for Mrs. Rachel Wiedemann Somogyi, 85, of Columbia, will be held 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, June 11, 2003, at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, conducted by The Reverend Jimmy Goudelock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eau Claire Baptist Church, Van Fund, 4427 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29203. Shives Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Somogyi died Sunday, June 8, 2003. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Carl, Sr. and Oadie I. Hembree Wiedemann. She was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church and was a much adored wife and loving mother. Survivors are: her husband of 61 years, Stephen J. Somogyi; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty Carol" and James Meetze, Debra "Debbie" and James Varnadore, brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Christine Wiedemann, Roy and Gerry Wiedemann and Ray and Nell Wiedemann; sisters, Elizabeth "Bet" Scott and Margaret Johnson; two grandchildren, Neil and Lisa and two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Rachel; sisters-in-law, Barbara Wiedemann, Frances Wiedemann and brother-in-law, Raymond Fredrick. Mrs. Somogyi was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd Wiedemann and Carol Wiedemann, Jr. and sister, Clara Fredrick.
