James W. Albert, age 14 years, was enumerated September 8, 1850, at Willoughby, Lake County, Ohio, with Daniel Albert 47, Sarah Albert 45, Franklin Albert 17, Daniel Albert 18.

James W. Albert, age 28 years, enlisted as a private at Marysville, California, October 5, 1864, and was mustered into Captain Alexander Gibson’s Company B, 7th California Infantry, October 8. Private Albert was posted to Arizona Territory. He returned to California and was mustered-out at the Presidio of San Francisco April 26, 1866.

James married Emma J. Howard in California in 1873. James W. Albert, age 44 years, was enumerated June 21, 1880, at New York, Yuba County, California, with Emma Albert 29, Laura A. Albert 6, Effa Albert 4, Corey A. Albert 1, Sarah Albert 75. He filed for a Civil War veteran's pension in Humboldt County on June 28, 1902 and received application No. 1,287,320 and certificate No. 1,051,910. Emma filed for a widow's pension April 17, 1900 and received application No. 889,722 and certificate No. 667,810. J. W. Albert, a pioneer of this state and a veteran of the Civil War, died at the Eureka home of his daughter, Mrs. George Meller, Tuesday morning. Deceased was a Native of Cleveland, Ohio, aged 72 years.
