Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Tollefson, 82, who died at her home north of St. Ansgar, March 12, 1958 were held March 15 at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, the Rev. Don Hamilton officiating. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery.

Ragnild Andrea (Nellie) Tollefson, daughter of Assor and Kjirsti Groth, was born February 28, 1876, on the old Groth homestead north of St. Ansgar, one of a family of thirteen children, eleven of whom have preceded her in death. She was baptized April 9, 1876, and confirmed October 5, 1890 by the Rev. Johan Olsen. She has been a faithful and lifelong member of the First Lutheran Congregation, always taking an active part in the affairs and organization of her church.

Her early education was received at the Clyde rural school and later she attended the St. Ansgar Seminary.

On October 22, 1898, she was united in marriage with M. George Tollefson, a childhood neighbor and schoolmate. They established their home on a farm north of St. Ansgar. Her husband preceded her in death on June 13, 1938. Since that time she has continued to make her home with her son, Luther and wife on the farm, thus spending nearly 60 years in the home she helped establish.

In December of 1949 she suffered a slight stroke from which she partially recovered, but other complications and the infirmities of old age beset her. She suffered a broken hip last November and since then had been confined to her home. She passed away peacefully at her home March 12, 1958 at the age of 82 years and 12 days as the result of a heart attack.

She was always a kind and loving Christian mother. Throughout the years of failing health she continued to be a cheerful and uncomplaining patient, maintaining a sincere interest in her church and family until the hour of her death.

She is survived by a daughter, Ada (Mrs. Harold Hahn), Osage, Iowa and her son, Luther of St. Ansgar; one grandson, Harlan Hahn, a student at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota; one foster grandson, Victor Neeley of Richland, Washington, and one brother, Anton Groth of St. Ansgar; also a number of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
