Gilbert "Jim" J. Ploeger, age 83, a former Elderon resident, died Saturday, August 22, 1992 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
He was born September 25, 1908 in Fremont, WI, the son of the late William and Ida (Marquardt) Ploeger.
On June 25, 1932 Gilbert was united in marriage to Cecelia Verkuilen in Birnamwood. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1969.
Survivors include three daughters, Marie (Edmund) Rzentkowski, Elderon, Irene (William) Wanta, Clintonville and Ann Cayo, Neenah; three sons, James (Regina) Ploeger, Caledonia, Donald Ploeger, Shawano and Gerald (Diane) Ploeger, Elderon; 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Josephine) Ploeger, Willmar, MN; and two sisters, Sylvia Heil, Pine Island, MN and Frieda Kohn, Tigerton.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by one son, two brothers including Edward Ploeger, and one sister.
Funeral services were held August 25, 1992 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Wittenberg. The Rev. Claude Zabinski, OFM officiated. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
