He died Monday, March 29, 2010, at Core Nursing and Rehab, Bedford.
He was retired from Louisville Cement Company where he worked as a draftsman. He was a member of Speed Memorial Church in Speed, worked for the Courier Journal as a sports writer for many years, and wrote the History of Silver Creek High School Basketball.
Survivors include his sister, Lenora Coons, of Sellersburg; nephew, William Coons, of Sellersburg; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Bueter.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday.
