Edward C. "Tubby" Bamke, age 79, Hatley, died on Sunday, January 23, 2005 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born on May 14, 1925 in Elderon, the son of the late Frank and Olga (Steinhelder) Bamke.

On November 6, 1948, Edward was united in marriage to Rosemarie Bernitt in Eland. She preceded him in death on January 28, 1993. He then married Mary (Podolak) Irmen on June 5, 1995 in Wausau. She survives.

Tubby was a hay dealer and Christmas tree farmer until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Eland. Tubby enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially traveling.

In addition to his wife, Mary, Edward is survived by his step-children, Roberta (Kris) Erlandson, Westby, Barbara (Jim) Lombard, Elroy, DiAnna (Dale) Matz, Neenah, Athena Podolak, Las Vegas; nine step grandchildren; one brother, Leroy Bamke, Elderon, one sister, Lorraine Kiedrowski, Elderon and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife and parents, Tubby was preceded in death by a brother, Harold and one sister, Dorothy Kiedrowski.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church, Eland. The Rev. David Dukovan will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Rest Cemetery, Elderon. Friends may call from 4PM to 8PM on Wednesday at the Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg and again on Thursday from 10AM until the time of services at the church.
