He was a son to John and Rose (Sommer) Schmiesing. He married twice. On Nov 7, 1946, he married Janet Glynn, who preceded him in death. On Nov 23, 1979, he married Mary Hilgefort-Pleiman, who survives.
Also surviving are seven sons, Gerald (Cynthia), Richard (Cynthia) and Mark (Brenda), all Sidney, William (Gladys), Piqua, David (Diane), Springboro, Frederick (Rebecca), Minster, and Ronald (Lori), Houston; six daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Marchal, Springboro, Eunice (Michael) Ernst, Minster, Jane (Lawrence) Henderson, Craig, CO, Diane (Dennis) Hoying, Troy, Pamela (Thomas) Kerrigan, Sidney, and Jo Schmiesing, Piqua; two stepsons, Ronald (Patricia) Pleiman, Ft. Loramie, and Gary (Karen) Pleiman, Sidney; two brothers, Harvey and John, both Minster; a sister, Neoma Hoying, St. Henry; twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren, six step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Cletus Jr., July 29, 1959; three brothers, Leonard, Walter and Edwin; and two sisters, Edna Enneking and Alma Boerger.
