Albert Gustav Bluhm was born to Sarah Groenig Bluhm and Wilhelm Bluhm on November 2, 1886, in Bertha Township. He passed away at his home in Bertha as the result of a stroke on March 18th, at the age of 75 years, four months and sixteen days. During his lifetime he had always enjoyed good health, until September of 1961 when he suffered his first stroke and had failed in health since that time.

Albert grew to manhood in the Bertha community, living with his parents at home most of the time, except for a few years when he worked with an uncle doing carpentry work. He later chose carpentry as his trade.

On May 20, 1914, Albert was united in marriage to Rose M. Leyh, and to this union were born seven children. The family made their home in the Bertha vicinity where they farmed and later had a produce business until Albert concentrated on his chosen trade. All of the children survive besides the widow. He was preceded in death by an adopted daughter, Lorna Edith, his parents, one brother, and two sisters. The surviving children are: Alverna, Mrs. Lyle Bolles, of San Lorenzo, Calif.; Elizabeth, Mrs. Wm. Matthews, of Petaluma, Calif.; William of Tucson, Ariz.; Glennice, Mrs. Robert Paukert of Hayward, Calif.; Doris, Mrs. Edwin Watkins, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Flora Marie Harris, of Cut Bank, Mont.; and John of Bertha. There 13 grandchildren and two great granddaughers. Also surviving are five brothers and four sisters: Emil Bluhm of Bertha; Arthur Bluhm of Sauk Rapids; Henry Weiher of Verndale; Herman Weiher of Aberdeen, Wash.; Theodore Weiher of Seattle, Wash.; Clara, Mrs. Charles Franklin; Freda, Mrs. Paul Fischer; Esther, Mrs. Elmer Voge, all of Bertha; and Mrs. Sarah Grundman of Minneapolis. He also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Albert was confirmed at an early age in the Methodist Church, and was a faithful member through the years. His Christian life and faithfulness to his Lord were a strong testimony to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by his loved ones and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bertha Methodist Church on Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Harvey Anderson officiating and the Rev. J. C. Youngblood assisting. Mrs. Chalmer Ward and Mrs. Donald Thiel sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," accompanied by Mrs. Willis Wieland at the piano. Pallbearers were two cousins, Howard Bluhm of Long Prairie and Harland Bluhm of Wadena, and four nephews: Harold Bluhm of Howard Lake, Donald L. Bluhm and Arthur Bluhm Jr., both of Sauk Rapids, and Harlan R. Bluhm of St. Paul. Burial was in Zion Cemetery.

All of the children were present for the funeral service. Others attending from a distance came from Minneapolis, St. Paul, Hutchinson, Wells, Sauk Rapids, Sauk Center, Howard Lake, Mizpah, Bemidji, Grand Marais, Long Prairie, Stapels, Wadena, Hewitt, Verndale, Eagle Bend, Parkers Prairie, and Sebeka.
