Karen, 64, of Jefferson, died peacefully on Thursday. She was born to Willard & Elnora (Oldenhoff) Koester. Karen attended schools in the Oconomowoc area, graduating from Oconomowoc High School. Earlier in life, Karen worked a number of jobs while trying to raise her three children. Her eventual employment as an intake specialist for Jefferson County Human Services gave her the freedom to attend more often to her true love, her children and grandchildren. She took pride in what she did, and the friendships she make while working there were beyond her wildest dreams. She cherished all of her fellow employees. Karen's passions were her family first, then quilting, traveling and theatre. Karen is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Gary) Ottman of Fort Worth, TX; two sons, Robin (Michelle) Weibel of Rhinelander, WI and Tyler (Alecia) Weibel of Springboro, OH; grandchildren, Craig (Maria), Melissa, Samantha and Brenden Ottman, Coby and Aliana Weible and Josh McGeshik; sisters, Doris Hasslinger of Delafield, WI, Beatrice (Roland) Krueger of Hartford, WI and Phyllis Krahn of Watertown, WI; brother, Clarence (Carol) Koester; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Richard and Warren. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial was held on Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, with the Rev. Jay Poster officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Karen's name for Tomorrow's Hope, 147 W. Rockville Ave., Jefferson, WI 53549. The Carlson Funeral Home in Rhinelander assisted with arrangements.
