John was the son of Thomas J. and Ann (nee Ragalyi) Walling. He was a graduate of Max Hayes High School in Cleveland, Ohio. John passed away of a heart attack at home with his mother by his side. He was a gentle and caring person and before his death he had expressed the wish to be an organ donor.
The Cleveland Eye Bank was a beneficiary of his eyes and his skin was "harvested" for a burn victim at the Cleveland Clinic. The family takes comfort in knowing that someone is seeing the world through John's eyes and that another person was saved terrible scarring by the skin that was used for healing.
John was cremated and is buried next to his sister Susan, in Riverside Cemetery in Lot 212A. The cemetery is on West 25 Street just off the I-71 interstate in Cleveland.
