Emilia Schroeder, second of ten children, was born to Karl and Katherine Hoesch, Dec. 22, 1878 at Fellbach, Germany.  She departed this life at her home in Murdock, Nebr., May 24, 1957 at 78 years of age. She came to America with the family when about four years of age.  They lived for one year at Ackley, Ia., then settled on a homestead near Huntley, where she grew to maturity.  They shared in the privations common to pioneer life in Nebraska. She had the privilege of being reared in a devout home, where she received Christian training.   She also attended catechism schools as provided by the pastors of the Evangelical Church. During her youth she found Christ as her Savior and joined in the fellowship of the Zion Evangelical  Church near Huntley.  At the time of her marriage she transferred  to the Emmanuel Church near Clay Center, and three years ago to the Ebenezer Evangelical United Brethren Church at Murdock. She was united in marriage to Ernest Schroeder, Feb.20, 1906, at Huntley.  They made their home on a farm, near Edgar, where they lived until 1954 when they moved to a  home in Murdock.  Eight children came to bless the home, all of whom survive except the youngest daughter, Lois, who passed away in February 1956.  The cares of home and family did not keep her from being active in the life and work of the church.  She found special joy in the Woman's Society of World Service in which she served in various official capacities. She had the joyous privilege of sharing with her husband in their 50th wedding anniversary in February of 1956.Surviving are her husband, Ernest Schroeder, Murdock; seven children; Mrs. Mildred Witte, Clay Center; Mrs. Ruth Luetchens and Mrs. Lily Oehlerking, both of Murdock; Rev.
