Anton Sam, 87, died Thursday at the Chippewa Valley Area Hospital, Durand. Born in Austria, Mr. Sam came to the United States in 1913 and settled in the area. He married Nellie Baier on November 13, 1917 and the couple farmed. Survivors include two sons, Francis, Arkansaw, Carl, Madison; a daughter, Mrs. Hubert Weiss, Durand; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church here, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rhiel Funeral Home here. Prayer service will be 8 p.m. Sunday; Knights of Columbus rosary will be 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
