Services for Marie Jensen Held December 20th

Marie A. Jensen, 93, of Hayfield, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 1984, at Olmsted Community Hospital in Rochester, where she had been a patient for the past 8 days.

The former Marie Andrea Hagen, she was born June 16, 1891, at Hayfield, Minnesota, the daughter of George & Oline Sandboe Hagen. She was raised at Hayfield and attended schools there. She was united in marriage to Walter Jensen on July 9, 1910 at Hayfield. To this union were born 4 sons and 6 daughters. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Hayfield Township in rural Hayfield until retiring in 1952, when they moved to the town of Hayfield. Mr. Jensen preceded her in death on March 28, 1959. Marie was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hayfield, an active member in church groups and its ladies aide. She was a member of the Home Social Club of Hayfield, the Hayfield Birthday Club, and the Hayfield Senior Citizens. She was a kind, generous, loving and compassionate person, who gave much more to this world than she took from it.

Survivors include 3 sons, Wallace of Hayfield, Franklin of Santa Anna, Calif, & Walter Jr. (Bud) of Hayfield; 5 daughters, Myra Sietsema of Austin, Mrs. Fred (Margaret ) Hughes of Rochester, Mrs. Ira (Alice) Mueller of Bloomington, Mrs. Gerald (Ellen) Sotebeer of Anoka & Mrs. Victor (Doris) Vitelli of Elmhurst, Ill; 19 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; & 6 great, great grandchildren; a brother, Alman Hagen of Rochester; 4 sisters, Mrs. Wesley (Anne) Engler of Randolph, Minn., Miss Gene Hagen, Mrs. Carlton (Ella) Guberud & Mrs. Don (Viola) Dondelinger, all of Minneapolis; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Obert Holtan of Hayfield; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one daughter (Dorothy Stanton) and 2 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held December 20, 1984, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hayfield, Pastors Myrwood Bagne and James Amundson co-officiating. Spring interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery at Hayfield. Organist was Nancy Matti and Harry Follmuth sang "How Great Thou Art". Pastor Bagne sang "Den Store, Hvite Flokk". The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross". Pallbearers were grandsons, Donald & Charles Mueller, Michael & Steven Jensen, Fredrick Hughes, Jr., & Daniel Vitelli. Honorary pallbearers were Allan & Peter Jensen. After the service a lunch was served in the fellowship hall by the ladies of Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements were by the Cole-Gust Funeral Home of Hayfield.
