He was married to Tillie Smarslik (1868-1941) on 20 January 1891 in Wright Co., MN. They had several children. They farmed together in Franklin, MN for many years. He died on 18 September 1930 in Franklin, MN at the age of 65. He was interred at St. Mary's Cemetery.
