OBITUARY :
ARCHIE D. VARNER, 66, of Waynesboro Route 4, died Saturday at the Washington County Hospital after an illness of five weeks.
Born at Waynesboro Route 3, he was the son of Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Zenger Varner and had lived in this area all his life.
He was a retired school teacher and at the time of his death was a Republican candidate for School Director in Washington Township. He had been a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are his wife, Alice M. Shafer Varner a son Archie D. Jr., Waynesboro and a foster son Edward Birely, Waynesboro Rt. 4; a brother Jesse of North Canton, Ohio; sisters, Miss Rebecca Varner and Miss Daisy Varner, both of Waynesboro; Mrs. George Kipe, Chambersburg Rt. 5 and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Poe Funeral Home, Waynesboro today from 4 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 1 p.m. Reverend George Eaver officiating assisted by Reverend Forrest Collier. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
