Emily Evelyn Regester Cobb was born on June 22, 1917, in LaRue. She was the youngest of 13 children born to Howard and Mary Jon Regester.

She passed away on April 12, 2010, in Dallas, at 92 years of age from complications of a rare form of cancer.

Evelyn lived in LaRue from birth to young adulthood. She graduated from Athens High School in 1934. In 1938, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Olin Cobb, a former star athlete for AHS who was the driving force behind the Athens Hornets back-to-back 1933 and 1934 State Basketball Championships. They made their home in Dallas, where they raised their four children. After Olin's retirement, they traveled extensively over the United States and Canada. She and Olin were married for 45 years when he passed away from colon cancer in 1983. Evelyn remained in the East Dallas area until her death.
Evelyn was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, attending the Central Unit Kingdom Hall for many years. In her later years, Evelyn enjoyed family get-togethers and watching all types of sporting events on TV.

Evelyn will be remembered by her children, John Cobb, Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Denison; Elaine Beckway, of Grand Prairie; Michael Cobb and wife, Donette, of Dallas; and Kay Whittemore and husband, Ed, of Forney.

She is also survived by her one remaining sibling, Blanche Berry, of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was buried at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas on April 16, 2010.
