---------------------------------------

Deliza Adaline Cannon was born on August 20, 1856, on a farm near Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia. Her parents were John Milton Cannon and Elender Malinda Rich Cannon. When Deliza was six years old, her father left home to fight in the Civil War. She was eight when her father died in a prisoner of war camp in Indianapolis, Indiana. So Deliza had to grow up quickly and be of help to her mother and siblings on the family farm. Eventually, her mother moved the family to Texas.

On March 15, 1877, in Kaufman County, Texas, 20-year-old Deliza married 28-year-old Henry William Lechner [(b. 6/16/1848 near Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio - d. January 14, 1926 (per his death certificate, he died in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, and was to be buried in Washington, D. C.)]. During their marriage, Deliza and Henry had only one child--Willie Barbara Lechner--in 1878. Deliza and Henry divorced, and Henry returned to Ohio to live the rest of his life. He married Bertha H. Bennett of New York on June 9, 1891. He and Bertha were reported on the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Census records as residents of Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.

Deliza did not remarry. After her daughter's marriage, Deliza lived in Jones County, Texas, and in Quay County, New Mexico, with Barbara and her husband Walter Buttrill. After her daughter's death in 1947 in New Mexico, Deliza moved to Arkansas where she died in 1956.
