Johann Peter Hedrick (Heydrich), Jacob's father is the original Hedrick ancestor for this line, departed from Rotterdam, arriving in the port of Philadelphia on September 11,1738 on the ship Robert and Alice, captained by Walter Goodman. He and his family settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He served in the Revolutionary War, as did several of his sons, including my ancestor Jacob. Jacob settled in Fleming County, Kentucky near Hillsboro where his family is buried. He earned a land grant from his service in the war, and raised his family here.
