Jessica Dirkson was born September 24, 1843, in Germany and shortly after was brought to baptism. In the year 1859 she was brought to paptism in the German Lutheran church. She came to the United States in 1873 and in 1874 was married was married to A.G. Ahlrich. In 1877 they came to Kansas locating hear Galatia. Their married life extended through 39 years. To the union five children, one son and four daughters were born. Three of the daughters, the husband and 16 grand-children survive the deceased. Death came Sunday, February 16 at 10 o'clock. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 19, and interment made in Galatia cemetery, Rev. Lind of Hoisington delivering the sermon, in both English and German. He used as his text, John 16:22, "I will see you again and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.."

Mrs. Louis Ahlrich

Mrs. Jessica Ahlrich, wife of Louis Ahlrich, died Sunday, February 16, at the home in Galatia, aged 69 years, 5 months and 22 days. Death was due to an attack of grip. She was born in Germany and came to this country in an early day with her husband, settling on a farm in Fairview township. She leaves besides her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Thos. Hester, Mrs. Fred Barr and Mrs. Will All, and one brother, J. Dixon, all of whom were at the bedside when the end came.
Funeral services will be conducted at Galatia Wednesday at 2 p.m. and interment will be made in the Galatia cemetery.
