Cape Resident, Dies
Word has been received here by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lester Bippus, 1116 North Middle street, and by Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Eves, 416 Bellevue street, of the death of Otto F. ("Shorty") Bippus, 48 years old, which occured at his home at Casa Grande, Ariz. Former resident of Cape Girardeau, Mr. Bippus and his wife, Ora, and family had gone to Arizona about 16 months ago because of his ill health. He had suffered with bronchial trouble, and in April had undergone an operation, complications from which resulted in his death.
Mr. Bippus was born in September, 1896, a son of Mrs. Ruth Bippus, who resides at Sikeston, and the late Mr. Bippus. He and his family lived in Cape Girardeau about 25 years, and formerly resided at the address of Mr. and Mrs. Eves. He was employed in the office of the Red Hot Coal Co. on Main street for about 14 years.
Surviving relatives, in addition to his wife and mother, include two daughters, Mrs. Charles Thompson of San Francisco, Cal., who had gone to Case Grande some time ago to be with her parents, and Wanda Bippus, at home; two sons, Lester Bippus, chief storekeeper in the Navy, serving in the South Pacific, and Otto Bippus Jr. also at home; two grandchildren, a brother, Arthur Bippus of California, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Rowe and Mrs. Wm. Nall of East Prairie.
Burial, in Coolidge Cemetery at Coolidge, Ariz., was in charge of the American Legion. Mr. Bippus having been a veteran of the first World War. After the war, Mrs. Bippus plans to go to Indiana to reside with her mother.
