On Dec 26, 1941, she married Ben Gasser of Lake Delton. They resided there, on the family farm, until 1951 when they moved to Baraboo, Ben Gasser died in 1959. Mrs Gasser was an elementary teacher and spent more that 40 years in the classroom, finishing her career in the Baraboo school system.
She was an active member of the Baraboo Emanuel Methodist Church and a longtime member of their women's group. She was also a member of the Baraboo Chapter of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors of America and Retired Educators Assn. She also volunteered at the local nursing home and delivered Meals on Wheels to shut-ins. Ruth traveled extensively in the US, Europe and the Middle East. She lived a happy and useful life, she loved her family, her friends and her home. She was well known for her quick wit and great sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Florence Roever; stepson, David (Elinor) Gasser; and step-daughter-in-law, Nancy Gasser.
She is survived by nieces, Bonnie (John) Anderson of Reedsburg and Mary (Bob) Behnke of Nashville, TN; nephew, Richard Roever of Rock Springs; stepson, Gordon Gasser of Apache Junction, AZ; step-grandchildren, Brent (Cate) Gasser, Mark (Karen) Gasser, Holly (Robert) Bowser and Lisa (Thomas) Kane; step-great-grandchildren, Katrina, Brennan, Christopher and Natalie Gasser and Timothy and Michelle Gasser; step-great-great-grandchildren, Tabitha and Cloe Gasser; special friend of more than 60 years, Evelyn Platt; as well as fellow residents and many teacher friends and other relatives.
Burial to be in Oak Hill Cemetery, North Freedom.
