Erna Sophia Frerking, 93, lifelong Concordia resident, died April 8, 2010, at the Lutheran Nursing Home at Concordia.
Funeral services were held Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Concordia with the Rev. R. Lee Hagan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Frerking was born on Jan. 18, 1917, at Concordia. She was the daughter of Edward and Martha Holsten Stuenkel. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School. She married Walter Frerking on Jan. 1, 1940. They lived on the Frerking family farm northeast of Concordia where they managed a row crop and dairy operation. She worked at Alewel's Meats and Holsten's Store and was custodian at St. Paul's Parish Office building, all in Concordia. She was a member of St. Paul's church where she was a member of the choir and Ladies Aid #3, taught Sunday school and managed the Braille Center.
Mrs. Frerking is survived by five sons, Paul Frerking, Robert C. Frerking, Kenneth Frerking and Brian Frerking of Concordia and Roland Frerking of Independence; a brother, Omar Stuenkel of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 13, 1990; five brothers, Alwin Stuenkel, Otto Stuenkel, Walter Stuenkel, Herbert Stuenkel and Norbert Stuenkel; and one stillborn sibling.
The pallbearers were Jill Gassen, Jana Johnson, Steven S. Frerking, Brett Frerking, Matthew Frerking, Anthony Frerking, Darren Frerking, Kendra Nolte, Carla Frerking, Hannah Frerking and Aaron Frerking.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a family choice.
Arrangements were made by Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Concordia.
