His parents were Otto Friedrich Wilhelm Gobber (1901-1982) and Emma Anna Sophia (Oestmann)Gobber (1903-1993).
He married Nov. 9, 1950 at St.James Lutheran Church rural Humboldt, Nemaha, NE. to Norma Doris Volker who was born June 13, 1929 at Humboldt, NE. they had 2 daughters, Wanda Rae and Sharlott Jane.
Wanda married to David Allen Grothen of Lincoln, NE. and their 2 daughters, Karen Jo and Tracey Jean. Sharlott married to Eugene Veberg and they have 3 children. Erik James, Emily Kathryn and Michael Tyler they are of Lincoln, NE. Also surviving were: Tracey Grothen has a fiance Brett Maly, and Emily and husband Bradley have a child Brandon Steinhoff.
Raymond was a member of the St.James (Long Branch) Lutheran Church. He suffered a stroke in Jan. of 2000 and became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn in May that year. As a result he could not speak but was able to communicate with his eyes and facial expressions and chuckling in a certain way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Erik Vegurg in 1984; brothers-in-law Eugene Gottula, Lyle Forrest, and Emil Bohling; and sister-in-law Arleen Knippelmeyer.
Services were May 17, 2010 at the St.James Lutheran Church and burial followed in the church cemetery, rural Humboldt, NE.
