BIRTH REGISTRATION: Valva, Salerno Province, Italy, Stato Civile Nati [Birth Register] 1857, FHL DGS 101060604, image 7, for FREDA, Amodio Giuseppe Maria, # 4, says he was born January 21, 1857. The name of his father is stated to be Giacomo Freda, son of Ferdinando, and the name of his mother is stated to be Angela Maria Spiotta.
NOTE: The birth date on his Death Certificate is in error. The names of his parents are correctly stated to be Giacomo Freda and Angela Maria Spiotta.

Amodio Freda returned to Italy about 1913 and left his 3 sons (Giacomo, Guerino, and Alfonso) in the United States with their maternal uncle, Ferdinando Alfano. Amodio Freda, his son, Michele, his three daughters Angelina, Loretta and Caterina, and his wife, Antonia Alfano, arrived in the United States on board the Cretic docking in Boston on February 28, 1921. The passenger list says they were going to Newark, New York (sic) to join their son, Alfonso Freda, who lived at 20-22 Boyden Street, Newark, New York (sic). Their nearest relative in Valva was listed as the children's maternal grandmother, Loreta D'Ambrosio.
