Martin was born in Germany, before the Milek Family came to the United States and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
When Martin arrived in Vietnam 17 August 1967, he was assigned to Echo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
Martin was at Hill 190 and 7 kilometers west of Cam Lo, when there was a hostile mortar attack against the base. Martin died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the head and body from the hostile mortar fire attack.
Survived by his parents, Nikita and Maria T Milek and his siblings; Peter M, Marieluise, Bruno, Elizabeth, Erwin M, Gisela and Margaret Milek, all of 1230 North 4th Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
