Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Rice for Ardella P. Popp, age 74, of Rice, who died Tuesday at Country Villa in Sartell. Rev. Timothy Wenzel will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday at Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Immaculate Conception Christian Mothers will pray at 5:00 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ardella was born March 11, 1933 in Nobles County, MN to Howard & Minnie (Kruse) Stowe. She married Dennis Popp on July 28, 1952 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice. They farmed near Rice and Ardella also worked at the Rice Floral Shop for seven years.
They were named the Benton County Farm Family of the Year in 1992.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Immaculate Conception Christian Mothers, and served on the funeral lunch committee for many years. Ardella was a member of the Langola Birthday Club for many years. She had a love for quilting, baking, sewing, and working in her garden.
Ardella is survived by her children and their spouses, Edward (Kathy) Popp of Rice, Charles (Sharon) Popp of Rice, Gerry Popp of St. Joseph, Denny (Mary) Popp of Rice, Ann (Kevin) Scheel of Rice, Larry (Renee) Popp of Rice, and Sandra (Allen) Saldana of Rice; sisters and brother, Lorraine Garges of Highlandville, MO, Raymond (Betty) Stowe of Jeffers, MN, Marzella Swanson of Lakefield, MN, Nancy (Paul) Brewster of Piketon, OH, Caryll McCann of Piketon, OH, and Arlene Cochran of Valley, NE; 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Ardella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis on Jan. 28, 2006; sisters, Evelyn Strausser and Wanda Adkins; and brother, Jerome Stowe.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Central Minnesota Heart Center.
