Wessel, Jr, Everett D, 74, passed away January 13, 2007, in his home, surrounded by his family. Everett was born on November 29, 1932 in Emporia, KS. He graduated from Toledo Township High School in 1951, then enlisted in the Navy. While playing basketball in the Navy, he was recruited by Ralph Miller, head coach at WSU in 1955. Everett enjoyed playing basketball for WSU and then teaching physical education and CPR along with coaching in various high schools in Wichita. He deeply treasured his involvement with young people. After retiring from coaching and teaching he spent the rest of his life supporting his family and enjoying the many trips they would take together. He is preceded in death by his son, Everett D. Wessel III in 1965. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, ... (not mentioned out of respect for the living) A memorial has been established with St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 925 N. Waco, Wichita, KS 67203. Visitation with the family present will be Wednesday, Jan. 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cochran Mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m, Thursday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
