The funeral of Mr. Christian Voss occurred at Prairie chapel on May 9, 1901.
Mr. Voss was born at Lensahn, Wolstein, Germany, Sept. 7, 1831, died May 7th, 1901; aged 69 years, 8 months.
He was married Nov. 5th, 1866, to Catherine Marie Petersen of Toudern, Germany, who died several years ago. To them were borh seven children, all of whom are living and all were present at the funeral. After coming to America he settled on his farm northeast of Marion where he lived until his death.
There was a large attendance at the last services. The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. L. Craft, Mrs. Stickney and Mr. and Mrs. Corydon Plummer. The pall bearers were Messrs. W.A. Austin, H.J. Wiley, C.M. Garret, Wm. Goodlove, Pearl Drake and Dan'l Shelhammer, all old friends and neighbors of the deceased.
