Daughter of Marcus D. Bearden and Sarah Frances (Morgan) Bearden.

Her father was an older cousin of the Marcus D. Bearden who was mayor of Knoxville 1868-1869. Her mother's sister Rhoda Campbell (Morgan) Williams was the great-grandmother of author Tennessee Williams.

She married Louis Alexander Gratz in 1865. They were the parents of Frances Henrietta "Fannie" (Gratz) Mann, Laura Bearden (Gratz) Leigh, Elizabeth Bearden "Bessie" (Gratz) Kurtz, Louis Alexander Gratz Jr. and Hugh Turney Gratz.

Her husband became the mayor of North Knoxville, which at the time was a separate municipality, but is now part of Knoxville.

She, her husband, and his second wife Marion (Fidler) Gratz are all buried in Old Gray Cemetery, Knoxville.
