REUNION OF THE DESCENDANTS OF J. U. MILLER HELD IN PORTLAND

Twelve daughters and sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. U. Miller, pioneers of Oregon, who attended the family reunion held February 25 at the home of W. J. Miller, 1285 East Eighteenth street, are shown above, from left to right: Back row—Fred Miller, Albert Miller, Miss Rosa Miller, W. J. Miller, Mrs. Lydia Keck, Edward Miller, and Andy Miller. Front row—Mrs. Ella Moore, Mrs. Pauline Brown, Mrs. Marie Kaster, Mrs. Margaret Allen and Mrs. Louise Patrick. Mr. and Mrs. J. U. Miller were pioneers in Oregon for 56 years, coming west by train and wagon to California first. They came to Portland by one of the first boats to enter the Columbia river in 1877, remaining here for a year, later moving to Polk county and then to Waldo hills, near Silverton, where they lived until their death three years ago. There are 13 children, of which 12 are living. Seven live in Portland, Mrs. Marie Kaster, Mrs. Lydia Keck, Mrs. Ella Moore, Mrs. Margaret Allen, Miss Rosa Miller, W. J. Miller and Andy Miller. Fred Miller, Edward Miller and Mrs. Louise Patrick live in Salem; Albert Miller in Albany and Mrs. Pauline Brown in Dawson, Yukon territory, Canada. The family attended school with the late Homer Davenport, cartoonist for The Oregonian and the New York Times.
