Famous American operatic soprano during the Parisian Belle Époque. She appeared in the premieres of a number of Jules Massenet's operas, and was a famous interpreter of his opera Manon.

She died in Paris, France in 1903, and her remains were subsequently moved and interred at Lakewood Cemetery in 1920.
