Bernard V. ``Bernie'' Luty Jr., 78, of West Newton, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, in Chambersburg, Pa. He was born Jan. 8, 1924, in McKeesport, a son of the late Bernard V. Sr. and Marian Louise Luty. He was a retired machinist employed by U.S. Steel at Christy Park Works, McKeesport. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, West Newton, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Hallowich) Luty, in 1995. He is survived by a son, Robert Luty of Gettysburg; a grandchild; and a sister, Patricia Luty of California. Friends received at the RICHARD F. DODSON FUNERAL HOME, West Newton, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Service in the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Regoli presiding. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
