Lawrence Hochstein
Lawrence J. Hochstein, 82, passed away suddenly at his home in Randolph on Thursday, December 6.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 10, at St. Frances Catholic Church with the Rev. James Ryberg officiating at the Mass of Resurrection. Interment was in the St. Frances Cemetery under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Aschoff, Julius Alberding, Donald Dendinger, Norbert Schaefer, Richard Patent and Gerald Albers. Active pallbearers were Kim Borst, Steve Hochstein, Michael LeClair, John Peebles, Dennis Poppe, Frank Kofera.
Lawrence J., son of John and Rose (Schulte) Hochstein, was born April 15, 1902, at Wynot. He married Cecilia Stevens September 7, 1926, at Constance. The couple farmed in Cedar County, moving to the Randolph area n 1942. They retired from the farm and moved into Randolph in 1957. Mr. Hochstein was employed at Randolph Feed and Terra Western and in construction work.
He was a member of the St. Frances Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cecilia; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Borst and Mrs. Paul (Marilyn) LeClair of Omaha; three sons, Robert of Port Lavaca, Tex., Allen of Pleasantville, NH and David of Omaha; 21 grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Fritz and Don of Wynot and John of Wayne and six sisters, Delores Abbott of California, Mary Louise Wieseler of St. Helena; Frieda Hoss of LeMars, IA, Ruth Huennekens of Yankton, SD, Rosine Pinkelman of Wynot and Viola Lammers of Fordyce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Gilbert and one sister, Sister Rose Jean.
