Paul Ivo Cookinham, 85, of Concord, North Carolina, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 10 in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
He was born October 22, 1924 in Ayrshire, son of Ivo and Margaret Fitzpatrick Cookinham. He married Madeliene Warner in Springfield, Minnesota.
Mr. Cookinham was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed with John Deere for 26 years, retiring in 1987.
Survived by his wife; one daughter, Peggy (Mike) Schriever of Concord, North Carolina; three sons, Joseph (Cynthia) of Ozark, Missouri, Paul (Connie), and Chad (LaTasha), both of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, James, Nathan, Hannah, Patricia, Evan, Anna, Joshua, Nicholas, Rachel, Ariel, Trevor, and Jozlyn; two great-granchildren, Jamison and Zoe; and one sister, Betty Patchin of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Cookinham; two brothers, Glen and Gene; and four sisters, Thelma Brogan, Lorraine Smith, Rita Togstead, and LeNore Boecker.
Services 1:30 p.m. Friday at Burton Avenue Baptist Church, Waterloo, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
