Over the years, she worked at Medallion Kitchens as a quality controller, was a house mother at a NDSU sorority house, and was an HST at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center. The work she loved the most was as a nanny, working for families in Illinois, Connecticut, California, and Minnesota. Many people called her "Grandma Ruth." She was a caregiver to many children over the years, a position she enjoyed and loved. Ruth never slowed down; she was always doing something for others. She was a meticulous homemaker, a great cook and baker and loved flowers and gardening. She had a gift for growing plants. Dancing to old-time music was another of her passions.
She is survived by her five children: Daryle (Sheila) Meder of San Bernadino, Calif., Diane (Bernard "Butch") Klinnert of Breckenridge, Brenda (Vernon) Hames of Wolverton, Linda (Donald) Bergerud of Fergus Falls and Minnetonka, and MaryLee (Tony Rodriguez) Smith of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Tony and Lyle Meder, Veronica and Eric Meder, Angel Meder, Dr. Heather Bergerud (David Anderson), Heidi (Wesley) Wiest, Jill Bergerud, Brooks (Jody) Klinnert, Tara Klinnert, Brandt (Dyan) Klinnert, Jessica (Dean) Buchholz, Katie (Gordy) Gast, Robert Wigdahl, David (Julie) Smith, Michael (Sharon) Smith, and Matthew (Elizabeth) Severson; great-grandchildren: Kira Anderson, Jake and Zara Wiest, Aspen Klinnert, Rachelle and Mitchel Wiesman, Peyton Buchholz, Sadie, Kelsey, Zakkarry, Marissa, Emily, Jarkea, Skylard, Trish, Chad, Nikie, Boa David, and Alex; one sister, Marge (Ted) Delzer of Fergus Falls; her friend, Leonard Lackmann of Moorhead; numerous nieces and nephews; and many children who called her Grandma.
