J. Beam Wingert

J. Beam Wingert, aged 79 years, prominent retired school teacher, died last night at his home in Chambersburg after a short illness.
Mr. Wingert was born November 11, 1859, the son of Abraham and Catherine (Beam) Wingert at Jackson Hall. He spent the greater part of his life in Franklin County. For more than 35 years he served as a school teacher in Guilford and Quincy Townships. For a number of years he taught summer schools at Stoufferstown and New Franklin. In 1914 he retired from the teaching profession.

Mr. Wingert was an active member of the First U. B. Church and was a teacher in the Sunday school for more than 50 years. He also served as a trustee and as president of the Franklin County Sunday School Association.

Surviving are four children: Miss Ruth, Chambersburg; Dr. Max Wingert of Bellview; Dr. Guy B. Wingert of Columbia, and Mark Wingert of Allison Park. These brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lottie Feldman, Chambersburg; Joseph Wingert, Pasadena, Calif., Judge Harry Wingert, Willison, ND; Rev Dr. Charles B. Wingert of New Castle also survive.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2:30 PM at the First U. B. Church conducted by the Rev. J. S. Glen assisted by the Rev. A. L. Long. Burial will be made at Norland cemetery, Chambersburg.

The body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2:30 PM Thursday.
