KINGSPORT — Mrs. Nelle Keys Bell, 88, 137 Rolling Acres Drive. Gray, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Wexford House following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Bell was a Washington County native and a daughter of the late William and Amy Taylor Keys.
She attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bell was a 1933 graduate of East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, and did graduate work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She taught school for many years in the Washington County School System.
Mrs. Bell was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in Hawaii and worked at the Pentagon for several years. She attained the rank of lieutenant commander.
Mrs. Bell was employed by Curtiss Publishing Co. for Ladies' Home Journal and retired as editor of Jack and Jill Magazine.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Hood, Rochester, N.Y., and Eleanor Heckroth, Tonawanda, N.Y.; two brothers, Will Keys, Gray, and Charles Keys, Colonial Heights community; and several nieces and nephews.
