Roger Benedict Lupe, Sr., 67, died Dec. 26, 2005, in Whiteriver.

He was born in Cibecue and raised in Spring Creek. He attended St. Johns School in Laveen. Following graduation in 1958 he moved to Whiteriver where he met and later married Gertie Clawson March 4, 1960. Roger worked with the Forestry Service briefly before going to work for the BIA. He retired from the BIA as a Facilities Manager in 2001 after 44 years of service. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a Rodeo cowboy and a champion for the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Mr. Lupe is survived by his wife, Gertie Lupe, of Whiteriver; three daughters, Claudine Goklish and Agatha Amos of North Fork and Linda Holden of Whiteriver; seven sons, Rubert Lupe, Fitzgerald Lupe, Roger Lupe, Jr., Emil Lupe, Ignatius Lupe, Phil Lupe and Richard Meade all of Whiteriver; two sisters, Bessie Ritzslaff of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and Ida Early of Cibecue; one brother, Steve Lupe of Whiteriver; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Wake was scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 at the family home in Whiteriver. Cowboys will escort the body to the Chief Alchesay Activity Center for funeral services to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. Burial will follow in the Open Range Cemetery in Cibecue.
