Clarence E. ‘Ducky' Harshbarger

MOUNT UNION - Clarence E. "Ducky" Harshbarger, 86, of 14 Parsons Drive, Lot 11, Mount Union, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Harshbarger was born on Feb. 19, 1927, in Ryde, a son of the late Andrew and N. Pauline (Miller) Harshbarger.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis J. Harshbarger on Sept. 17, 1947. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2000.

He is survived by: children, Richard L. "Dick" Harshbarger and wife, Helen, of McVeytown, Darlene Moist and husband, Calvin, of Ryde, Marlene Heidel, of McVeytown, Denny R. Harshbarger and wife, Karen of Mount Union, and Julie Dunmire and husband, Rodger, of Mount Union; siblings, Charlie, George and Ted Harshbarger, Patsy Sunderland and Leah Young, all of McVeytown; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is his personal caregiver, Natalie House.

Five brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren preceded him in death.

Mr. Harshbarger was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, having served his basic training during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post, Mount Union.
He had worked for U.S. Silica, formerly Pa. Glass Sand Co., Mapleton Depot, for more than 20 years.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Mr. Harshbarger loved to fish, hunt and ride his golf cart.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
