LACROSSE -- John F. Batzka, 58, LaCrosse, a carpenter by trade, died at 12:20 a.m. today in Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso after an eight months' illness.
He was born in San Pierre, March 12, 1900, the son of Fred and Charlotte (Luken) Batzka. On December 6, 1926, in Wanatah, he married Dorothea Eckert, who survives.
Batzka was a member of St. Luke's Church in San Pierre.
Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. William (Edith) Metz, Union Mills, and Mrs. Irwin (June) Rosenbaum, La Crosse; one brother, Robert, Markle, Ind.; three sisters, Miss Edna Batzka, San Pierre; Mrs. Helen Rosch, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Sawyer, Suffolk, VA.; his mother, Mrs. Charlotte Batzka, San Pierre; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Luke's Church in San Pierre. Burial will be in San Pierre Cemetery.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the Weisjahn Chapel in Wanatah and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
