He was born in Hostrup, Slogs, Tønder, Denmark. His parents were Mathias Jensen Lund and Anne Christine Mathiasen.

He married Anna Helene Jorgensen on 18 May 1882 in Perth Amboy.

Obituary:
Funeral services for Claus Lund, Sr., 69, a resident of Keasbey for the past fifty years, who died Tuesday at the Perth Amhoy City Hospital after several months illness, will be held this afternoon at his late home.

The late Mr. Lund came to this country from Denmark at the age of 20. He was one of the pioneer settlers in the district. Up to the time of his illness he was employed at the National Fireproofing Company; where he held a record of forty-eight years of service.

The deceased leaves a widow, Annie H., four sous, Claude, and Charles of Fords, Ingward and Matthew, of Keasbey; a daughter, Mrs. James Johnson, of Perth Amboy, and eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
