Mike "Mickey" Sharp, age 64, of Penelope, passed away Thursday evening, July 29, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West by Rev. John Guzaldo, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West.

Francis Michael was born in Waco, Texas, to the late O.L. and Evelyn Marian (Muhl) Sharp, Sr. He attended school at Reicher Catholic School. He received a Music Scholarship to attend Hill Jr. College. On December 26, 1965, he was united in marriage to Linda Ann Uptmore, in Waco. Mickey was an electrician for O.L. Sharp Electric Company for a number of years and retired in 2006. He was also manager of the West V.F.W. Post #4819 Club and a member of the West Bass Club. He was a drummer for several bands including the Corvettes, the Convertibles, Little Anthony and the Silver Tones, Heather Black, and also the Sharp Band with his only grandson, Taylor. He loved teaching Taylor to play the guitar and drums. Mickey also loved watching automobile races, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco.

He was preceded in death by his wife on January 22, 2006.

Survivors include son, Francis Michael Sharp, Jr., of Penelope; grandson, Taylor Sharp, of Fairfield; brother, O.L. Sharp, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Waco; sisters, Margaret Segars and husband, Tom, and Jan Kimmel and husband, Phil, all of Waco; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
