One of the city's promindent citizens died at the family home on Allen Ave. He was the son of S.W. & Fidelia (Leach) Allen natives of Oneida Co N.Y. Educated in public schools ad later attended Madison University in N.Y. In Galesburg engaged in livestock and butchering business. Being very wealthy from which enabled him to live retired life last several years. Married Apr 1, 1861 Mary Agnes they had three children, she died Jan 19,1876. Married Lillian Goddard Dec 26,1899. He was fire chief for three years. Attended First Methodist church. This obit had been published by the Knox Co Genealogical Society.
