Rose A. Schnur, nee Obermark, 95, Washington, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at The Homestead at Hickory View. Mrs. Schnur was born March 23, 1915, in Washington, to Joseph Obermark and wife Catherine, nee Elbert. She received her education at St. Francis Borgia Grade School. She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Church, Ladies Sodality and Western Catholic Union. On June 10, 1944, she was united in marriage to Charles H. Schnur at St. Francis Borgia Church. This union was blessed with one son. Mrs. Schnur was a busy homemaker with many hobbies and interests. For many years, she loved to quilt and play pinochle. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver and enjoyed bowling and trout fishing. She traveled extensively with her husband, Charles. Mrs. Schnur was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles H. Schnur on Sept. 28, 1980; six brothers, Edward, William, Joseph, Dick, Raymond and one in infancy; and three sisters, Sister Mary Omer, S.S.N.D., Sister Joselita, S.S.N.D., and one in infancy. She is survived by one son, Leon Schnur and wife Linda, Washington; one sister, Lucille "Toots" Derner, Washington; four grandchildren, Mark Schnur, Meredith Schnur, Monica Schnur and Miriam Schnur; two great-grandchildren, Blake Schnur and John Schnur; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Obermark, Washington, and Edna Graff, California, Mo.; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, July 28, at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington, with the Rev. John Mayo, celebrant. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association are preferred. The Schnur family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
